District Day Görlitz secures clinics with 30 million euros in aid package!

The situation of the clinics in the district of Görlitz has stabilized thanks to the recent decision of the district council, which unanimously voted for the preservation of the three clinic locations in Zittau, Weißwasser and Ebersbach. This reports Sächsische.de . An aid package that secures up to 20 million euros by the end of 2027 is intended to help the clinics to overcome their economic difficulties.

The maximum financial support for the clinics increases to 30 million euros from 2024. In addition to the 20 million euros from the aid package, there is a 10 million euro loan that expires at the end of 2023. It is uncertain whether the clinics can repay this loan; After all, it could be seen as a lost grant. It is particularly noteworthy that the district councils have also decided on a leasehold for land and buildings in order to enable the clinics to secure investment grants from the Free State with a land charge.

investments for the future

The planned investments are comprehensive. Among other things, the surgical and recovery rooms are to be converted into Weißwasser and an outpatient surgical center in Ebersbach is to be set up. Nevertheless, the financial situation of the district clinics remains tense after 2027, since a cost -covering way of working is expected to be achieved.

The willingness to support is also evident at the state level. The Saxon Ministry of Social Affairs has announced that it will provide an additional 20 million euros for planned tendrils, a decision that was made on June 18, 2024. The Minister of Health, Petra Köpping, underlines the need for this support, since the hospitals in Saxony fight with increased energy prices, tariff increases in staff and a decline in the number of cases. This year, the total flat -rate funding is 95 million euros, which shows how important support from the Free State of Saxony is.

  • economic difficulties due to:
    • increased energy prices
    • tariff increases in the personnel
    • fall decline

changes in hospital financing

The challenges in hospital financing are not new. Since 2005 this has been carried out by a case-related remuneration system, the so-called DRG-System . Here, health insurance companies remove treatment cases of a diagnosis of the same amount, regardless of the treating hospital. Only the maintenance costs, which have not been paid for over the case flat rates since 2020, are a challenge. Instead, a cost -covering care budget is provided.

The introduction of reforms that come into force on December 12, 2024 with the KHVVVG could bring a turn. Measures to reform hospital care, including changes to financing, are on the agenda. One of the essential reforms is the introduction of a volume -independent remuneration that could improve the financial situation of the clinics.

Overall, it can be seen that the challenges in health care in the district of Görlitz and beyond are enormous, but hopefully can be mastered with a combination of political support and investments. It remains to be hoped that the measures and investments initiated will not only bridge the clinics, but will also strengthen the sustainably.
