Painter in the Görlitz district: For the first time more wages from April - that will change!

In the painter and painter industry in the Görlitz district, there is good news for the employees. The wages will be raised from April 2025. Roland Müller from IG Bau Ostsachsen has announced that every working hour paid is remunerated with 19.10 euros. This increase brings full -time employees in this sector about 110 euros additionally to the monthly content. It is a gratifying development that is particularly valuable in the current economic situation.

The new wage regulation is the result of hard collective bargaining and was officially signed on April 15, 2025. The talks were originally stuck; The last round of negotiations failed on March 5, 2025. Nevertheless, the negotiators finally agreed on April 11 and thus set the course for the next few years. A future-oriented point in this collective agreement is the east-west attachment of wages, which will be concluded by January 2027. This agreement concerns around 350 employees in 61 painting companies and paint shops in the district, which may hope for fair wages. The IG Bau relies on figures from the employment agency that underline the urgency of these adjustments.

Details on the wage increase

According to the new provisions, the corner wage will be raised by 2.9 % in the West from April 1, 2025, followed by a further increase of 3.0 % from June 1, 2026. The aim is to gradually bring wages in the eastern federal states and Berlin to the level in the west by January 1, 2027. These developments are also necessary, because the minimum wage for trained workers will be raised to 15.55 euros from July 1, 2025 and finally increases to 16.13 euros from July 1, 2026.

The young talents in the craft also benefit from these negotiations. The training allowances will be increased by 50 euros per apprenticeship year from August 2025. This shows that the industry not only appreciates the existing employees, but also creates an incentive for the next generation. Especially in times of low unemployment and the shortage of skilled workers, it is essential that the recruitment and binding of new apprentices are promoted.

votes from the industry

The collective bargaining was described as challenging. Markus Heineke, the negotiator, emphasized the importance of unification for the competitiveness of the industry. The conditions with which the employer side and the IG Bau dealt were shaped by different ideas. The IG Bau had originally called for an increase of 8 % to achieve a corner wage of 20.37 euros per hour.

An important aspect of the new agreement is that painters and painters are entitled to the minimum wage without a wage. This should apply regardless of collective agreements and come into force from July 2025. The implementation of these regulations is considered benevolently by the state associations of the painter and painter trade and the IG Bau, since they should give the industry a positive impulse as a whole.

These wage increases are a step in the right direction and illustrate the will to improve working conditions in painter and paintwork. The agreement shows that it is progressing and the craft has a good knack for the future. The next few years will remain exciting!
