After CSD: 14-year-old victim of right-wing violence in Görlitz!

In Görlitz, a 14-year-old was attacked by several unknown people on Saturday evening, October 2, 2025, after Christopher Street Day (CSD). The incident occurred on Dresdner Straße, where around 850 people were celebrating the fourth CSD in the city. The police were on site with a large contingent to secure the event and are now investigating suspicion of grievous bodily harm.

The teenager, who is a member of the Left Youth Görlitz, was slightly injured in the attack and received medical attention. It is still unclear whether the attack is related to the CSD or whether both the injured party and the perpetrators were participants in the relevant gatherings. The Left Youth reported at least four suspected perpetrators, three of whom were disguised. An unmasked attacker had previously been seen at a counter-demonstration and had spoken to the 14-year-old after he called him a “fascist”. After this speech, the boy received a blow, fell to the ground and was then attacked.

Right-wing extremist counter-demonstration

During the CSD celebrations, a right-wing extremist counter-demonstration took place at the same time, in which around 130 people took part. These right-wing extremist groups, which have increasingly mobilized against the LGBTIQ community in recent years, have already been closely monitored by security authorities. According to the Office for the Protection of the Constitution, young actors in particular are showing increasing radicalization in violent right-wing extremism, often without any significant connection to classic structures. This radicalization often occurs through uncensored social media such as TikTok and Instagram, making it easier to mobilize for such actions.

Due to the increase in right-wing extremist disruptive actions against the CSD, violence and action-oriented (youth) groups such as “Jung & Stark” (JS) and “Deutsche Jugend Voran” (DJV) have been formed nationwide, which pursue a clearly aggressive goal. The security authorities are taking measures against such groups in order to combat the increasing tendency to violence. A 24-year-old leader was recently convicted of grievous bodily harm - a sign that such acts do not go unpunished.

The incident in Görlitz shows once again how explosive the situation is and how quickly radicalization can lead to acts of violence. Trustworthy investigations are now needed to shed light on the matter and hold those involved accountable. Saturday's events remind us that the fight against right-wing extremism and for acceptance and equality in our society remains essential.
