Price increase for ice skating in Niesky: What you need to know now!

The ice skating season in Niesky brings with it some changes that will amaze visitors. On Monday, the city council will decide how the new prices for the ice rink in Niesky will be set from October. The city administration has already presented a draft that affects the entrance fees and rental costs for the ice rink. Once again it is clear that ice skating in Niesky, which has a long tradition, is becoming more expensive.

The new admission prices for the ice stadium, which is located at Plittstrasse 20, are rising significantly again. In the future, adults will have to pay 6 euros for a single ticket, while disabled people will have to pay 6 euros from 3 euros to 5 euros. Children and young people aged 3 and over will now pay 4.50 euros instead of 3.50 euros. For large families there is a blessing in disguise: Anyone who buys a ten-ticket ticket pays 54 euros for adults and 40 euros for children/young people. For comparison: Ten individual tickets cost a total of 60 euros for adults and 45 euros for children or young people. That may not make the new offer the best deal, but this year the entry prices for the forest pool remain unchanged.

Price increases for the use of the ice surface

But not only are admission prices rising, but the costs of renting the ice rink are also increasing. For the youth teams, the hourly rent will be increased from 80 euros to 100 euros, while clubs and private individuals will be asked to pay from 130 euros to 160 euros per hour. Game operating costs will also increase: in the future, young talent will cost 120 euros instead of the previous 100 euros, and clubs will have to raise 235 euros instead of 195 euros. This certainly makes the clubs doubt their budget.

Even if the fees at the ice arena in Weißwasser remain unchanged until June 30, 2027, it is not possible to ignore the new prices that will apply in Niesky. It will still be possible to pay a hefty 4.20 euros for skate rental and sharpening in Weißwasser, while the prices in Niesky are 5 euros and 6 euros respectively. So if you don't want to dig deep into your pockets, you could take a trip to Weißwasser.

Opening times and equipment of the ice rink

The ice rink in Niesky has made a name for itself with its loving design and state-of-the-art equipment. It offers an area of 1,680 m² to accommodate the many ice skating fans. Opening hours are Friday to Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., which creates the opportunity for spontaneous excursions. In addition to practical ice skate rental, there are changing rooms and even a kiosk that provides the ice skaters with the necessary refreshment. From fries to hot dogs to refreshments, there is something for everyone.

The events in the stadium are also very popular. Ice hockey games and children's birthday parties take place regularly. Ice discos and special events also enrich the calendar of events, meaning that the ice rink remains a popular place even outside of regular opening hours. There are separate rates and conditions for school events and special occasions.

The next meeting of the Niesky City Council, in which the new prices are to be decided, will take place on Monday at 6 p.m. in the Jahnhalle. Stay tuned for more information on the rink changes and skater reactions!
