Cycling classic Around the Landeskrone” attracts cyclists and families!

Next Sunday it's all about sport in Görlitz, and in two respects. The city is preparing for the 88th edition of the cycling classic “Around the State Crown”, which represents an important platform for cyclists and the Association of German Cyclists will also be present to determine the German Senior Champions (Masters). There are also exciting games played by the Görlitz Energy Women on the fistball facility. They absolutely need points to stay in the league.

Cyclists can expect a challenging route of 17.3 kilometers that leads through picturesque landscapes, starting and ending in the Görlitzer Burghof. The first participants will be at the start at 9.30 a.m.: the Masters 3 (over 50), while the Masters 4 (over 60) will follow at 9.35 a.m. The youngest athletes are particularly happy about the “Fat Tire Race” for children, which is offered for age groups 6-12 and runs over 1.8 kilometers from 9:35 a.m. It's great to see how interest in cycling is cultivated even among the youngest participants, and registration is possible up to an hour before the start on site or by email to radsport-goerlitz@freenet.de. Helmets are also required!

Exciting racing time and high expectations

Overall, there are several masters and everyone's races that are held in different categories. The achievement of championship titles in German women's cycling is taking place for the second time. It is particularly worth mentioning that recreational athletes also compete in the Lausitz Cup. This brings together a diverse mix of participants from different age groups and ability levels, and the athletes can demonstrate their skills.

The schedule is tight and the organizers from Post SV Görlitz, all experienced in organizing such events, have prepared to the best of their ability. Racers and spectators should pay particular attention to the necessary track closures. The police will support the event with their strong forces including radio cars and motorcycles to ensure security.

At the same time, the Görlitz Energy Women will be fighting to stay in the league from 11 a.m. on the fistball court. They face a challenge as they need at least four points from their remaining four home games, which means it won't be a walk in the park against strong opponents like league leaders Calw and third-placed Dennach. The pressure to succeed is felt everywhere – both on the bikes and in fistball.
