Barn in Kittlitz burns down – 150,000 euros in damage!

On the night of Wednesday, June 25, 2025, there was a devastating fire in Kittlitz near Löbau. Residents reported the fire around 1:30 a.m., and when the first emergency services arrived, the outbuilding of a residential building was already in flames. The situation was dramatic: there was a tractor, two lawn tractors and a trailer in the barn, all of which were destroyed by the flames. Unfortunately the building could not be saved. The property damage is estimated at around 150,000 euros, and the cause of the fire currently remains unclear MDR reported.

The fire brigade's extinguishing work lasted until the early hours of the morning, while the emergency services continued to be on site to combat possible embers. The enormous heat and large flames made rapid intervention necessary. Several fire departments from the area were involved in fighting the fire. It is an impressive picture of the courage and determination of the volunteer firefighters who tackle such crisis situations and do their best.

Both cases show how quickly fires can occur and what devastating consequences they can have. According to [IFS](https://www.ifs-ev.org/ Schadenverhuetung/ursachenstatistics/ursachenstatistics-brandschaeden-2024/), the causes of fires are often diverse and range from technical causes to human error. Accurately clarifying these incidents will be crucial to avoid similar disasters in the future.

It remains to be seen how the investigations in Kittlitz and Löbau will progress. The local fire department and the police are in close contact to clarify the background to both fire incidents. However, it is already clear to the affected residents and firefighters: the work is far from over and the clean-up work and the rescue of assets will still take some time.
