Schönau-Berzdorf: New apartment block in Görlitz becomes an innovative jewel!

Friedrich-Engels-Straße, 02826 Görlitz, Deutschland - in Görlitz something happens! Daniel and Kathrin Heidrich from Schönau-Berzdorf have bought an empty block of flats on Friedrich-Engels-Straße, which has been unused for years. This apartment block has already provided a lot of speculation about its future use, with ideas such as a retirement home or refugee accommodation. Now the Heidrichs have big plans: they want to create a total of 75 apartments there, the project is described as "highly innovative" and "unique".

The block is currently being trimmed so that the plans can go into the next phase. The Heidrichs have set themselves the goal of realizing a self-sufficient house that should enable future residents to live a self-determined life. In August or September 2023, the couple wants to submit the building application and hopes for a rapid processing. Construction could start when everything goes according to plan in early 2026. This large project shows how important modern and flexible use is to cover the needs of people in the region, especially in times when social innovations are becoming increasingly in demand.

The social change and neighborhood development

A look outside the box shows that the challenges when building and living are not only trimming in Görlitz, but also elsewhere. The research and implementation project Sinba deals with the effects of climate and resource crises on our living needs. It is clear that technical solutions alone are not sufficient - social innovations are required to successfully implement sustainable living concepts.

The Sinba project focuses on the role of such innovations in urban development and tries to widely spread from the niche. Cities like Mannheim and Wuppertal are the focus of the examination and testing. An integrated approach could also be important for the Görlitz housing project, because after all, future living models have to react flexibly to the changing claims of society.

community and self -government

Another exciting initiative is the old fire station Weimar, which has already taken a step in the right direction since it was founded in May 2017. A self -determined life is sought in a lively residential area there. The members of the association, which form an mixed -age group of 25 to 65 years, are committed to creating self -managed rental apartments and space for small businesses.

The project not only includes well-being for living, but also areas for art and cultural workers as well as small shops for local supply. Everything should serve to create an active and inviting living environment - a goal that focuses on the values of community and social integration.

The current developments in Görlitz and the projects in Weimar show that innovative living concepts are required and have the potential to improve people's lives sustainably. It remains exciting how these projects will develop and which new ideas will contribute to creating living neighborhoods.
