Theater Festival in Dresden: Young talents conquer the stage!

These days in and around Dresden it's time to raise the curtain again! The exciting “Fast Forward” festival, which is entirely dedicated to young European directing talent, will take place from November 13th to 16th, 2025. Every year, directors from all over Europe transform the stages in Dresden, giving artists a platform who are often appearing in front of an audience outside of their home country for the first time. At this festival, it's not just the spectators who get their money's worth, as the exchange between young artists, experts and students is also intended to be promoted. The audience is also actively involved in the events and can vote on an audience award. A special jury, which was set up in 2022, also gives young people a voice. Affectionate, exciting and with a unique flair, the festival presents itself as an important meeting point for all theater lovers like the Fast Forward website announced.

In addition, the cultural offering in November 2025 will be enriched by several productions in Radebeul, Bautzen and Görlitz. In Radebeul, viewers can experience the classics “Hamlet” by William Shakespeare and “Hamletmaschine” by Heiner Müller under the direction of artistic director Manuel Schöbel. Here there is a clear focus on the original text, which makes the production particularly authentic. The works can be seen on November 1st, 2nd and November 21st in the Meißen Theater, which is located in the heart of the city.

Diverse theater offerings in the region

Görlitz impresses with the comedy “Ta bouche” by Maurice Yvain, which will be staged on November 22nd. The stories about love and financial difficulties will certainly ensure hours of fun at the Görlitz Theater. For all dance theater lovers, “Carmen + Bolero” will be performed at the German-Sorbian Folk Theater in Bautzen on November 20th, where viewers can experience the dynamic and emotional performances of the famous compositions by Bizet and Ravel.

In another corner of Dresden, the production “Best in Class” based on the work of Marlen Hobrack is also waiting for the audience. The focus here is on the relationship and conflicts between mothers and daughters. With dates on November 20th and 27th in the Little House, this will be a worthwhile visit for many families. Theater fans are also invited to follow the story of Hanns Eisler in the play “Eisler – Lost in Hollywood,” which deals with the composer’s fate during the Nazi regime. This performance will take place on November 8th and 9th at the Societätstheater.

These diverse offerings provide an excellent reason to spend November in this culturally rich region. While the “Fast Forward” festival promotes creative exchange and curiosity about fresh art, the classic productions and modern interpretations of key themes delight the hearts of the theater community. A visit is definitely worth it!
