The Saxon milestone of 2025 is approaching, and there is reason to be happy in the Görlitz district. A total of four companies from the region made it into the “Top 20” of the renowned competition, which is organized by the Bürgschaftsbank Sachsen. This year, an impressive 73 companies applied for the coveted award, which recognizes successful company successors. It is not only a sign of well-prepared handovers, but also of the future viability of Saxony's medium-sized businesses. The Saxon reported that the nomination event took place in the Old Pump House in Dresden, where the finalists were recently announced.

Diversity of successors
The applications reflect the diversity of the industries represented in Saxony. A distinction was made between three categories:intra-family succession,internal company successionandsuccession outside the company. The 73 applications consist of 32 for succession within the family, 25 for succession within the company and 18 for succession outside the company. A total of 17,000 euros in prize money will be awarded, divided into 5,000 euros per category and a special jury prize of 2,000 euros.
State Minister Dirk Panter is on board as patron this year and is pleased with the lively participation: "Every year around 1,500 company successions have to be organized in Saxony. The challenges that arise need to be addressed proactively," says Panter. Applications are assessed based on an extensive catalog of criteria that takes factors such as sales and employee development into account. A scientific project team from the University of Technology and Economics (HTW) in Dresden, led by Prof. Dr. Torsten Gonschorek, will evaluate the incoming test criteria. The decision as to who will win the coveted prizes will be made on October 28th at Albrechtsberg Castle in Dresden. The winners are chosen at a festive event. Networking events in cities such as Leipzig, Chemnitz and Dresden also offer those interested the opportunity to exchange information and find out more about company successions. The MDR presenter Franziska Schenk will provide the moderation, which will also give the event a special setting.
The nominations are not only a reason to celebrate for the region's companies, but also an important signal to the entire economic landscape of Saxony. Only through a well-organized transfer process can the strengthening of the domestic market be guaranteed.
