A tragedy has occurred at Silbersee in Lohsa, in idyllic eastern Saxony. The 13-year-old boy, who disappeared from a nearby campsite, was last seen on August 10, 2025, at around 7:30 p.m. Two days later, on August 12, the police found his body on a railway line in Knappenrode.
The boy, a Czech, was on vacation with his family at Silbersee when he disappeared. According to the Görlitz Police Department ( Media service Saxony ), the identity of the deceased was already confirmed by initial investigations. The causes of his death are now the subject of a criminal investigation.
Investigations underway
The circumstances of the death are still unclear. The criminal police have taken over investigations and are currently not ruling out an accident, a crime or a suicide. This information was also provided by the South German newspaper confirmed.
Around 100 police officers worked with considerable effort to search for the missing teenager. In addition to the water police, who combed the surrounding lakes with boats, helicopters and drones were also used for aerial surveillance. Police dogs intensively searched the embankments and the surrounding area. Despite all these efforts, the boy initially remained untraceable.

The boy's mother, who was very worried about her child in the hours after the disappearance, is now receiving support from a pastor. The community is shocked by this sad news, which casts a dark shadow over summer holiday fun. The background to the disappearance and the exact circumstances that led to his death continue to be intensively investigated by police and the public is eagerly awaiting answers.
