Ute Wunderlich: New President of the Rotarians for Culture and Education!

Görlitz, Deutschland - A new chapter in the Rotary Club Dreiländereck Oberlausitz was opened on June 27, 2025 in a solemn event in the Zittauer Gerhart-Hauptmann-Theater. Ute Wunderlich, the managing director of the Free School of Schkola, took over the scepter from her predecessor Tom Langenfeld. With her passion for the theater and her diverse commitment as an educator, trainer, mentor and city councilor, she will guide the club's fortunes.

In her new function, Ute Wunderlich has set himself ambitious goals. The focus for 2025/26 will be on culture, education and inclusion. This reflects the spirit of the Rotarians, which shows itself in numerous projects worldwide, such as the support of education initiatives and the promotion of inclusion as central concerns. At the international level, Rotary has initiated significant programs that not only support education, but also improve the lives of people-be it through the establishment of schools in Afghanistan or the provision of clean drinking water in Lebanese schools, such as Rotary.org

commitment to humanity

The planned fundraisers of the club, including the popular "Ring on celebration" and a presentation status at the Herrnhut Christmas market, aim to secure the financial means for the club's ongoing projects. Particularly noteworthy is the raffle at the festive event, the proceeds of which benefit the donation projects. The combination of sociable cooperation and social engagement is in the foreground here.

The new president is aware of the challenges associated with the integration of young people into the club. Current discussions within Rotary, in particular on the topics of diversity, equal treatment and inclusion - known as Dei (diversity, equity, and inclusion) - have shown that it is necessary to also hear the votes of young people. Various initiatives have already proposed practical solutions to promote the participation of young people, as can be seen at [Rotary.de] (https://rotary.de/sociales/ Vielfalt-gleicht-gleic-und- Inclusion-a-18209.html). The emphasis is that joint action and decisions should be promoted at eye level between the generations.

a look ahead

Ute Wunderlich and her team are faced with the exciting task of creating added value for the community and shaping cooperation that promotes diversity and participation. By concentrating on topics that affect society, the Rotary Club Dreiländereck Oberlausitz would like to contribute to the fact that everyone feels welcome at Rotary regardless of origin, age, sexual orientation or religion.

With the clear goal of making the work of the club even more inclusive and committed, we look forward to pursuing the developments under Ute Wunderlich. A strong network of Rotarians can do a lot - and the new president has the good hand to drive this forward.
