Unconstitutional graffiti on Lake Berzdorf: State Security investigates!

There are some current developments in the Görlitz region that are keeping both citizens and the police on their toes. On September 2, 2025, the police ticker showed that unconstitutional symbols had been smeared on a prohibition sign in Deutsch Ossig am Berzdorfer See. The acts took place in the past few days or weeks and caused property damage of around 50 euros. The state security agency has taken over the investigation and the police have already taken photos and initiated the removal of the graffiti. So reported Sächsische.de.

A recent survey of the police ticker shows that other incidents in the area are also of importance. There have been a number of thefts and traffic accidents, which are putting additional pressure on the security situation. A particularly sad incident concerns a hit-and-run on the B 6. Here, an unknown driver collided with a free-roaming livestock guard dog on Friday morning, which died at the scene of the accident. The driver continued his journey, which led the police to investigate for unauthorized departure from the scene of the accident. The damage is estimated at around 2,000 euros. Focus on crime and road safety

The list of crimes is long: In Neugersdorf, unknown people broke into a garage and stole a bicycle, tires and a vacuum cleaner with a total value of around 3,500 euros. The damage caused is around 3,000 euros. The security service is also active in Görlitz, so several bicycles were stolen from a basement compartment between Wednesday and Thursday, resulting in theft damage of around 370 euros.

But it's not just the thefts that are a cause for concern. Road safety in particular is being put to the test by various incidents. A frightening example is the police's push for more safety: During speed checks on the B 6, 278 of 1,415 vehicles exceeded the permitted speed. Two drivers were stopped at speeds of 190 km/h and 184 km/h, even though only 100 km/h is allowed there.

Special events and emergencies

The police also report a mortar grenade discovery in Neißeaue, which was discovered during earthworks. The explosive ordnance disposal service promptly took over the disposal. The police have also removed several drunken drivers from traffic, including a 49-year-old Audi driver with a breath alcohol level of 1.14 per mille.

Protecting citizens is high on the agenda of local police authorities. Despite the large number of incidents, the authorities are taking decisive action to proactively counteract such crime and traffic incidents. Feedback from the public is always welcome, because together we can live more safely.
