Two teenagers on roof: drug discovery and property damage in Löbau!
In Löbau, more precisely on Lessingstrasse, there was an incident today that caused quite a stir. Residents reported to the relevant authorities that some windows had been broken. This sign of vandalism quickly drew the police to the scene, who were alerted by an emergency call about two people on a roof. On site, the emergency services met two young people aged 17 and 19 who were obviously in an extremely problematic situation. As Sächsische.de reported, both reacted positively to amphetamines, and the 19-year-old also had Ecstasy tablets found.
But that wasn't all. The 17-year-old is suspected of being responsible for the damage to the broken windows, which caused damage of around 500 euros. The police therefore filed charges of trespassing against both young people and are now investigating property damage and drug possession. A serious case that shows how quickly things can get turbulent these days.
Drug problem in the region
The situation in Löbau is not an isolated case. Drug crime in Germany and especially in Saxony has increased significantly in recent years. According to the Federal Criminal Police Office, the availability of narcotics is increasing, especially synthetic drugs such as amphetamine and ecstasy. These drugs are often trafficked by organized gangs who make significant profits from the illegal drug trade. Combating this crime is a key challenge for the authorities.
In addition, a recent search of late-night sales in Leipzig showed that police are facing similar problems in other cities. Over 50 portions of crystal meth as well as almost 150 portions of marijuana and a small amount of cocaine were seized there. This raid, which took place on May 28, 2025, is just one example of the criminal police's active efforts to combat drug trafficking, as Saxony Police documented.
The developments in drug crime are reflected not only in seizures, but also in the diverse challenges that the police are confronted with. The operation against drug trafficking, especially against new psychoactive substances, represents a significant threat to internal security. Despite the successes in the fight against this crime, the supply pressure remains high, especially for substances such as cocaine.
The incidents in Löbau and the recent drug offenses in Leipzig make it clear that the topic of drugs and youth crimes not only make headlines, but also play a significant role in the everyday lives of many young people. Safety and education are the keys here. But how can this challenge be met? A joint approach by schools, parents and authorities is essential in order to offer our young people safe prospects and protect them from the dangers of drug abuse.
