During the wonderful Advent season, the Herrnhut Star Manufactory in Saxony comes into the spotlight. Last Saturday a new decoration house was opened that is well prepared for the Christmas rush. The demand for the popular Herrnhut stars has increased enormously in recent years, which was also confirmed by managing director Katja Ruppert: her workforce has grown from 35 to an impressive 230 employees. Visitors literally flocked to get creative and make their own stars in one of the new special colors, pink and purple. Many were so excited that they got in line early - some had to wait up to an hour, but that didn't dampen the mood among those waiting. On the contrary, the anticipation was clearly noticeable.
The Dekohaus not only offers 50 craft spaces in a modern workshop room, but also a spacious sales room. In addition to the popular selection of stars, there are also floral arrangements and wreaths to discover. The opening was a real hit! The queue was long and visitors were optimistic about getting their hands on the coveted products.
An important part of the tradition
The Herrnhut Stars are a real tradition that is very popular during Advent and Christmas. Despite rising prices, especially for the special editions, the stars are still in high demand. In order to meet the high demand, a raffle was even held, which was met with great interest: of the 4,000 applications, only around 2,000 stars went to the lucky winners. Unnoticed by the hustle and bustle of everyday life, the Herrnhuter Stars manage to bring people together and convey a feeling of community and anticipation of the festive season.
The Herrnhut stars not only represent a festive decoration, but also a piece of cultural heritage and local craftsmanship that is passed on from generation to generation.
