Königsbrücker Straße remains Saxony's number one accident hotspot!

Road safety in Saxony remains an explosive issue. In 2024, a total of 12,659 traffic accidents resulting in personal injuries were recorded here, once again highlighting the need to be vigilant. This is particularly true when you take a look at the most dangerous roads in the state. At the forefront: Königsbrücker Straße in Dresden, which has been the undisputed number one on the negative list since 2022.

As Sächsische.de reports, there were 38 traffic accidents with personal injuries on Königsbrücker Straße in 2024 - one significant decrease compared to 2023, when 52 accidents were reported. The number of seriously injured people also fell from nine to six. A ray of hope, but the road remains an accident hotspot.

The top 3 most dangerous roads

Königsbrücker Straße is followed by Meißner Straße in Radebeul, which takes second place with 35 accidents in 2024. Here too, the number of accidents was determined compared to previous years: Meißner Straße had the second most traffic accidents in 2023 and is therefore considered a long-term accident hotspot.

Third place goes to Fetscherstraße in Dresden with 33 accidents, three of which resulted in serious injuries. This street has also changed in the ranking, as it was still in second place in 2022. Last year it fell to 13th place, now the list shows a twist.

Other accident hotspots in Saxony

Overall, eight out of ten of the most dangerous roads in Saxony are in Dresden. In addition to the streets already mentioned, Leipziger Straße and Washingtonstraße are also represented, each with 24 accidents, Bautzner Straße with 22 accidents and Bautzner Landstraße with 21 accidents. The A4 motorway (Dresden section) is also one of the most dangerous, with 20 accidents. The only street outside Dresden listed in the top 10 is Lützner Straße in Leipzig with 19 accidents.

Alliance Direct experts used data from the accident atlas of the federal and state statistical offices to identify these accident hotspots. The accident statistics for Saxony also show that there were a total of 129 fatal accidents and 2,716 accidents with serious injuries in 2022. This underlines the urgency of raising awareness about road safety, such as dawo-dresden.de reported.

It remains to be seen how these figures and findings will be incorporated into Saxony's future transport policy. What is certain is that good skills are required here to increase safety for all road users and prevent tragic accidents.
