Warehouse fire in Chemnitz: Fire brigade in constant operation!

On Saturday evening, June 29, 2025, there was a devastating fire in a warehouse in Chemnitz, which immediately developed into a major event. The fire started around 6 p.m. in the backyard of a company building on Chemnitztalstrasse and spread quickly. The fire brigade was on duty for several hours to fight the flames and prevent it from spreading further, but unfortunately the hall burned down completely.

The emergency services were confronted with several hundred Euro pallets that burst into flames and ultimately engulfed the warehouse itself. Despite the courageous efforts of the fire brigade, three of its members were injured: a 19-year-old and two 34-year-olds were slightly injured during the extinguishing work and were treated on site by the emergency services. The mayor and fire department spokesman confirmed that the injuries were not life-threatening.

Large-scale fire brigade operation

Numerous firefighters were deployed to fight the fire and remained on site on Sunday morning to extinguish embers. Thanks to the rapid response of the fire brigade, the flames were prevented from spreading to neighboring buildings, which could have prevented anything worse from happening. However, three vehicles nearby were damaged by the fire and there was indeterminable damage. The Chemnitz criminal police have already started investigating the cause of the fire, which is currently still unclear. A precise assessment of the damage is still pending.

The warehouse, which served a catering service, was full of materials whose exact contents remain unknown. Road users in the Chemnitztalstrasse area currently have to expect restrictions, as there is only one alternating free lane available between Further Trift and the town exit. Drivers who are familiar with the area are urgently asked to avoid the area as far as possible in order not to hinder rescue and fire-fighting work.
