Maksimovic has impressively attracted attention in recent years. He has been wearing the Red Star jersey since 2017 and made his professional debut at the tender age of 16. His appearance in the Nations League is particularly noteworthy: on October 12, 2024, he made his debut against Switzerland, becoming the youngest player to ever represent Serbia in an official competitive game. Last season he was an integral part of the team and played in seven of eight Champions League games, including six times as a starter.
