Yussuf Poulsen is moving to HSV: The new star in the Volksparkstadion!
Big news from the football world: Hamburger SV has now officially confirmed the transfer of Yussuf Poulsen from RB Leipzig. In an exciting development, the Danish international replaces Davie Selke, who moved to Istanbul Basaksehir. NDR reports that the move has now been completed after twelve exciting years at Leipzig.
On Sunday, Poulsen successfully completed his medical check and signed a contract, the term of which remains unknown. This represents an important step for HSV, which was able to sign Poulsen, a player who has established himself as a club legend and record player at RB Leipzig. There he played in 425 competitive games and scored 95 goals. His transfer is linked to a transfer fee of around 1.5 million euros.
A new start for Poulsen
Poulsen, who has made 87 appearances for the Danish national team and scored 14 goals, will travel straight to the training camp in Herzogenaurach on Monday. There is already speculation that he will make his debut in the HSV jersey next Saturday in a friendly against Sturm Graz. In a statement, HSV board member Stefan Kuntz described Poulsen as the “face of the Bundesliga” and thus made it clear which prominent player they were betting on.
However, over the last four seasons, Poulsen has been less successful in scoring at Leipzig, with just 22 competitive goals. Nevertheless, his experience and love of the game is a valuable addition for HSV, who are looking for new leadership on the pitch.
Selke's departure
Selke, on the other hand, did not extend his contract with HSV, which expired on June 30th, and is now taking advantage of the opportunity to move to Istanbul, where he has signed a contract until 2027. This gives HSV the chance to hire a new attacker in Poulsen, whose footballing skills they will probably see on the pitch soon.
HSV is already planning the first five Bundesliga matchdays scheduled by the DFL, and the city derby against St. Pauli is on the program on August 29th. The fans can be curious to see how the new constellation with Poulsen will develop and whether HSV can expect a lot from him.
