Leipzig Zoo: Exciting offspring in the budgie oasis!

Things are getting bright and colorful at Leipzig Zoo: the summer holidays are in full swing and therefore the busiest time of the year. Families from all over Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, Thuringia, Bavaria and Brandenburg flock to the animal world to marvel at the latest developments. Zoo boss Jörg Junhold announced in a podcast that there are offspring in the budgie oasis. This oasis has been extensively redesigned since 2018 and covers around 100 square meters, with a wonderful position opposite the koalas and the Arche discovery house, where visitors can marvel at the lively birds.

The budgies, who are known to be true social breeders, have caused a lot of hustle and bustle in this facility. Around 50 young birds have already left the nest, while others are still in the nesting boxes. Visitors are warmly invited to observe the small birds' first attempts to fly, which is certainly a highlight for young and old.

Birthdays and new homes

But the budgies aren't the only ones causing excitement. There is also a breath of fresh air in the world of white-nosed coatis. On May 15th, the female Nina gave birth to two young animals, which are lovingly cared for in a well-equipped mother's room together with another female. However, these new little snoopers, whose father is seven-year-old Carlos, will spend some more time in the room before they can finally conquer the Pantanal complex.

At the moment it is clear that the lively animal world at Leipzig Zoo always has new adventures and surprises in store. Visitors can look forward to many exciting moments that will make the holiday season unforgettable.

Looking at zoo trends

The numbers and biographies of the animals therefore play an important role in zoo operations. Frankfurt Zoo is currently home to a total of 5,454 animals in 472 species, with a pleasing increase in animal sponsorships, which shows that visitor interest in the most popular animals, such as meerkats and Humboldt penguins, remains unbroken.

Leipzig Zoo remains a fascinating destination for the whole family, where nature and animal lovers can look forward to exciting encounters - whether it's the budgies' flight attempts or the coatis' displays. The mix of offspring and a varied program makes the time at the zoo a special experience for everyone.
