Farewell to the wine sovereigns: A festival for Saxony in the Hoflößnitz!
On August 3, 2025 there will be an unforgettable event in the picturesque Hoflößnitz in Radebeul: the farewell party of the three Saxon wine sovereigns is coming up! This celebration has the motto “small but mighty” and offers an exclusive atmosphere as only 40 tickets are available. This is a great opportunity to say goodbye to the wine queen and her two princesses while guests enjoy Saxon wines and a delicious winemaker's buffet. The event is organized by the Saxony Wine Growers Association in collaboration with wine guest guides, which [diesachsen.de](https://www.diesachsen.de/meissen-news/verabschiedungs Feier-der-weinkoenigin-in-der-radebeuler-hofloessnitz-klein-aber-fe-3030810) reports on. The entrance fee is 30 euros and the price of the wines is already included.
A summer cultural program is offered to guests, which makes the event even more unique. Anyone who would like to take part in the celebration can order their tickets by email via post@weinbaugemeinschaft-niederlößnitz.de. Another highlight is the farewell of the three wine sovereigns, who were elected on August 13, 2024.
The Saxon wine sovereignties 2024/2025
Ivanna Wübken, the new wine queen, is accompanied by the Saxon wine princesses Janine Merkel and Antje Peschel. Ivanna, 31 years old and living in Coswig, chose Scheurebe as her favorite wine. She brings with her life motto "Life is a learning process - learn to live it & you will enjoy it!" a breath of fresh air into the wine scene. Janine, 35 years old and from Dresden, is at her side and shares her motto: “It is the encounters with people that make life worth living!” personal demands with the joy of wine. 43-year-old Antje, who lives in Diesbar-Seußlitz, brings with her life motto “Whoever starts the day with a smile has already won it!” a positive radiance throughout the group. Further details about the wine sovereignties can be found at weinbauverband-sachsen.de.
A look at viticulture in Saxony
Saxony, the smallest wine-growing region in Germany, impresses not only with its almost 522 hectares of cultivated area, but also with over 800 years of wine-growing tradition that dates back to 1161. The Meißen region is considered the cradle of Saxon viticulture, where the largest wine festival in the region is also celebrated. Thanks to the mild continental climate with sufficient sunshine and rainfall, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris and Traminer in particular thrive here. Around a fifth of Saxony's wine production is made up of red wine varieties such as the popular Pinot Noir.
The Saxon Wine Route leads over 55 kilometers from Pirna to Diesbar-Seußlitz and not only offers views of fantastic wine landscapes, but also numerous opportunities to stop off at Straußwirtschaften, where small and part-time winemakers present their treasures. The “Open Winery Days in Saxony” will take place next August, where over 25 wineries will provide insights into their cellars and vineyards. Additional information about Saxon wines can be found at deutscheweine.de.
The combination of tradition, excellent wine and a charming setting makes the farewell celebration of the wine sovereigns an experience that should not be missed!
