Germany's focus on young talents: Sachsenring race promises excitement!

A fresh feeling of hope is in the air when the motorcycle sports fans look at the Sachsenring. The ADAC has been trying intensively to promote German motorcycle talents in recent years. Motor sports director Thomas Voss recently expressed the confidence that the phase could soon come to an end without German pilots on an international framework. The past year was particularly depressing, in which no German driver was represented in one of the three World Cup classes for the first time since 1950. There is currently no local pilot in the racing series driver's field. But there are bright spots: In the Northern Talent Cup, three German talents currently lead the overall classification, as diesachsen.de reports.

This competition, which is funded by ADAC, Honda and Dorna, has established itself as a springboard for the young drivers and is an integral part of the supporting program on the Sachsenring. The aspiring talents receive support from well-known personalities such as the former world champion Stefan Bradl and the former Moto2 driver Lukas Tulovic. Voss sees a positive trend in the increasing number of participants in the mini and pocket bike cup in the past two years, which indicates a growing interest in motorcycle sports. For the upcoming race weekend, which takes place from July 11th to 13th, one hopes for visitor records - the weather will play a crucial role.

strong contingent of the German talents

The upcoming Liqui Moly Motorrad Grand Prix Germany becomes a key event for the German young drivers. Fynn Kratochwil, who, at just 14 years, has five victories from six races in the Northern Talent Cup, is currently leading the championship. Thias Wenzel and Robin Siegert occupy places two and three and have thus established themselves as serious panel candidates. It is particularly noteworthy that Anina Urlaß is also a female driver in the field of participants, who has already shown itself on the podium three times this season.

In the last race in Most, Fynn Kratochwil was able to win both races, which underlines his ambitions to gain a foothold in international motorsport. Meanwhile, the talents in their teams resolved to do their best in the home game and to meet the expectations of their fans - so the pressure is high.

The way to promote young talents

In the background, the Motorsport Team Germany still on a systematic promotion of young talent. Supported by the ADAC Foundation Sport and the DMSB, the team is currently promoting 35 athletes in various motorsport disciplines, including motorcyclists. From financial support to comprehensive training programs, this funding project offers young drivers aged 12 to 22 years a valuable springboard for their career.

The application phase runs until the end of August 2024 and is aimed at talented athletes who want to prove themselves in the two- or four-wheel area. This commitment of the ADAC is an important component to attribute German motorsport back to old strength and to make domestic talents internationally competitive.

With every race at the Sachsenring, hope is growing that German pilots will soon cause a stir again in the World Cup. The way there is rocky, but not unreachable when you see how much enthusiasm and support the new generations are bought for the best places.
