Finally finished: Pausitzer Strasse opened in Riesa - new asphalt for everyone!
Riesa, Deutschland - Finally the time has come! The basic expansion of Pausitzer Straße in Riesa between Friedrich-Engelsgels and Robert-Koch-Straße has now been completed. This significant construction measure, which began in July 2024, represents one of the largest infrastructural developments in the city. On Monday the official acceptance took place by the city building office, and in the afternoon the street was released, like Diesachsen.de reported.
The Riesaer can look forward to modernized stops, as several bus lines run over the usual route again. A new, smooth asphalt has replaced the previously bumpy pavement and ensures a considerable plus of driving comfort. Mayor Marco Müller was pleased with the result that is a noticeable improvement for inner -city traffic.
Why the construction site took longer
Originally, the completion of Pausitzer Straße was planned for the end of May, but different factors led to a delay of over five weeks. Weather -related interruptions in autumn and winter as well as a surprising grenade find at the beginning of the work stopped the construction work. In the course of the renovation, old media management was also replaced and new civil engineering work for energy supply and for data lines were carried out, such as the Saechsische.de
The investments for the project amount to an impressive 1.1 million euros. The city of Riesa bears around 893,000 euros, supported by a funding rate of 75 percent by the Free State of Saxony. Stadtwerke Riesa and Vodafone also contributed to the costs.
Sustainable mobility in focus
Another look at mobility opens up exciting aspects of urban traffic planning. According to the Federal Ministry of Digital and Transport, a sustainable mobility transition is of central importance in order to not only reduce motorized private transport, but also to promote pedestrian and bike traffic. Projects As part of the Mfund initiatives, the cities help to develop new approaches that are not based on clever solutions, how to use BMV.de can read. The creation of walking and bike paths with a width of 1.50 meters on both sides of Pausitzer Straße is a gratifying example of this development.
The final marking of the street takes place in August after the fresh asphalt has to rest for at least six weeks. Although there have been some bumpy positions in the past, the city of Riesa is well equipped for the future when it comes to fulfilling the traffic and mobility needs of its citizens.
