Festival Among People: Success gives reason to look forward to 2026!
The “Unter Leuten” festival in Meißen-Bohnitzsch celebrated its premiere from June 6th to 8th, 2025 and is immediately causing a stir. With approximately 220 campers packing the site and a mix of live music and DJs, the event exceeded all expectations. The organizers, Simon Hirt, Amy Kirchoff and Joram Jüschke, are pleased about a flow of visitors of between 650 and 700 people on Saturday, which far exceeded the originally targeted 150 day tickets. Instead, 220 day tickets were sold, further cementing the festival's financial success. Sächsische reports that the organizers made a four-digit profit, which not only goes to the collectives and DJs involved, but also as a starting budget for planning the next edition in the year will flow in 2026.
In terms of atmosphere, the festival was a meeting place for young people who were supposed to present regional artists under the motto “Among People”. A colorful program offered everything from indie and cover bands to electronic music. Workshops on screen printing and DIY projects, a skate contest and a volleyball tournament provided variety and captivated the participants. The event location, the Meissen International Garden, proved to be ideal for the desired non-commercial and sustainable orientation, which was also the focus of the organizers. Bahrmann.de adds that the festival thrives primarily on the voluntary commitment of young people.
Outlook for the second edition
Planning for the second edition is already in full swing. The organizers have announced that they would like to implement some improvements for 2026. In the future, ticket purchases will be possible online, and more payment methods will be offered at the bar to make the process easier for everyone involved. The site also offers space for twice the number of campers, which promises further growth. Simon Hirt and his colleagues have great confidence in the future of the festival, which is aiming for better weather in the next round. Another important point is that Joram Jüschke will no longer be on the organizing team next year because he wants to go on a hike.
An all-round successful weekend, with only one minor incident: an ambulance had to be called due to a sports injury, but fortunately there were no major incidents. In the end, it should be noted that the “Unter Leuten” festival, with its mix of music, workshops and a strong focus on sustainability, generated a lot of response in the heart of the region and represents a valuable platform for both local artists and listeners.
