Children's play town in Riesa: Neuland” relies on creative democracy!
Things will be exciting in Riesa this summer! The “Kinderspielstadt” event series will take place from July 28th to August 1st and will now be taken over by Sprungbrett e.V. Under the motto “Neuland – Children in Power!” Children between the ages of 8 and 13 are allowed to actively participate and use the opportunity to create their own ideas and projects. This initiative aims to combine democracy, creativity and practical learning. According to diesachsen.de, the event will take place at the Göhlis project and adventure estate at Volksgutstraße 1.
The event promises a colorful program with many highlights. As “citizens” of Neuland, up to 40 children can take part in workshops in the areas of crafts, art, media and ecological topics. An exciting mix of sporting mini-competitions, creative offers and adventures in nature awaits participants. Young film and photo reporters will document the experiences in order to capture the creative processes.
Insights into democracy
A newly introduced element will be the daily election of city councilors by lottery. The program also includes creative discussion groups that offer the children space for discussions and exchange. This corresponds to the idea that democracy must be learned and lived - an approach that the CIVIS Democracy Game also underlines. The game aims to actively involve young citizens in shaping democracy and has already been implemented with enthusiasm in schools.
The management of the children's play town is in the hands of experienced volunteers and specialists who not only look after the children, but also want to strengthen their social skills, self-confidence and sense of responsibility. For all the exciting offers, the participation fee is 50 euros per person. Registrations are now possible via email spielstadt@sprungbrett-riesa.de.
Support democracy education
The importance of strong democracy education is becoming increasingly clear in this context. The German Children and Youth Foundation (DKJS) sees cooperative democracy education as an opportunity to actively involve young people in the democratic process. For this purpose, qualitative criteria were developed that aim to strengthen both schools and extracurricular education. The offer includes consultations, workshops and the development of materials to make democratic processes understandable and tangible.
So if you would like to make your voice heard and actively participate in this unique project, don't hesitate and register your child! With the children's play town, Riesa will be a place of creativity, learning and democracy.
