Garbage can chaos in Meißen: residents raise the alarm!
There are currently some challenges for the residents of Leinewebergasse in the charming old town of Meißen. Since the end of April, they have had to bring their garbage cans to the fumbling area because they are no longer picked up in front of the properties. The cobbled, steep road makes moving the bins a real challenge. Many residents have already lodged objections, and the waste management association will respond to the concerns in the coming months, like Saxony reported.
Significant changes are also on the agenda for the city of Radebeul. The first bicycle street is planned on Pestalozzistrasse, which will extend between Steinbachstrasse and Schildenstrasse. Here cyclists get priority and are even allowed to ride next to each other, while cars are allowed to drive through the street with a speed limit of 30 km/h. For this reallocation, however, the roadway between Dr.-Schmincke-Allee and Schumannstrasse must be renovated. The city administration hopes to receive funding to implement this project.
Animal shelter and anniversary
The Meißen-Winkwitz animal shelter is pleased to receive financial support from the city's participatory budget. The facility has faced all sorts of challenges recently and plans to use the money wisely to improve its circumstances.
Another highlight is the 35th anniversary of the Förster restaurant in Sörnewitz. Marlies and Ulrich Förster founded the restaurant many years ago, which is now run by their daughter Mandy Weise-Förster. It remains to be seen whether the grandchildren will also venture into the restaurant business.
Recycling and waste management
The disposal of waste remains a central issue that not only plays a role in Meißen and Radebeul. Garbage collection includes regular emptying of trash cans and street cleaning. Loud ortsdienst.de Recycling means the reuse of materials or their thermal utilization. For this purpose, recycling centers are essential that accept waste such as scrap, electronic waste and paper and recycle them. Correct waste disposal is of great importance, not least because of legal requirements.
A look at waste management shows that in Germany it has developed from a disposal economy to a circular economy since the 1970s Federal Environment Agency explained. The focus today is on avoiding waste, reusing and recycling. However, a prominent challenge remains proper disposal, which is considered the environmental problem of the 21st century.
The challenges are great, both for waste collection and for the residents in Meißen. But with the planned cycle route and the anniversary behind it, the region also sees the opportunity to develop further and promote environmentally friendly solutions.
It remains to be seen whether the horses Figaro and Zart from Klipphausen, which were sold to the Royal Court in Sweden, will also make a contribution to the environment! The two horses, trained as carriage horses, have been preparing for their three-day journey, which begins on Tuesday.
