Sports clubs in Meißen are celebrating: 1,500 euros for volunteer work!

Something exciting is happening in the heart of the Meißen district: five local sports clubs can look forward to financial support of 1,500 euros each. This generous funding is provided from the ninth round of the association's campaign by the municipal utility SachsenEnergie. As diesachsen.de reports, this is an important step to recognize and reward the clubs' commitment.

The clubs that were awarded in this round applied for the grant in autumn 2025. The initiative has proven extremely successful since its launch in October 2021. With an increased funding total of 90,000 euros per round and regular two rounds per year, SachsenEnergie now supports a total of 60 recreational sports clubs.

The winners from Meißen

The newly crowned winners who will now benefit from the funding are:

  • SV Turbine Großenhain e.V.
  • SV Traktor Kalkreuth e.V.
  • TSV 1862 Radeburg e.V.
  • Vf Ethos Riesa e.V.
  • SV Frauenhain e.V.

Alina Fenn from SachsenEnergie emphasizes that the large number of applications from committed clubs is another sign of the vibrant sports landscape in the region. This campaign is not only a financial relief, but also a recognition of the voluntary work carried out in the clubs.

Focus on popular sports

In total, 335 recreational sports clubs in Saxony have benefited from vouchers worth a total of 465,000 euros since the club campaign began. The sports supported range from ball and team sports to canoe polo and cheerleading to athletics. The vouchers can be redeemed in a practical online shop for team clothing and sporting goods, which gives the clubs additional financial flexibility.

A look at the exemplary sports supported shows how diverse the campaigns are and that they do not just benefit a single sector. This initiative addresses the needs of a broad section of society and helps to sustainably promote popular sports in the Meißen district.
