Students at Meißen University: Start surveys for more tolerance!
Exciting surveys are currently underway in Meißen that take a look at the political trends in the city. The students at Meißen University set out to gather the opinions of citizens and local associations. Under the title “How do you see your Meissen?” They would like to find out how the people of Meißen view tolerance towards different political opinions, migration, religion and ethnic origins. The surveys also aim to capture perceptions of unequal treatment and anti-democratic actions in the city. According to Sächsische, this survey will run until July 13, 2025 and provides valuable insights into political culture Location.
What is particularly noteworthy is that, in addition to the citizen surveys, a shorter survey is also planned specifically for the city's clubs. Prof. Dr. Thomas M. Schimmel, a political scientist at the university, leads the project, which is supported as part of the “Partnership for Democracy Meißen” initiative. This partnership aims to create greater awareness of democracy and social participation.
Promote democratic participation
Promoting pluralism, participation and diversity in cities and communities is a central concern of the initiative. The Living Democracy! program supports, among other things, non-profit associations in Meißen, Nossen and Käbschütztal. They can apply for funding for youth projects that want to actively shape social and political life until April 13, 2025. For smaller projects, there are microphone ds that support starting from 500 euros.
The Partnership for Democracy ensures that citizens have the opportunity to raise their voices and exert influence on the community. The upcoming elections in particular are viewed as an important instrument for participation. There's something going on! Society is called upon to get actively involved and to lead discussions about democracy.
Social engagement in Meißen
Meißen has established itself as a cosmopolitan city with a strong humanistic understanding of values. Cooperation between local politics, administration and civil society is crucial to further promote democratic culture. Projects that are part of the federal program “Living Democracy!” not only serve to strengthen civic engagement, but also to prevent extremism.
