Danger! Dense fog warning for Central Saxony until tomorrow morning!

A thick fog is moving over Central Saxony today, September 26th, 2025, bringing with it a weather warning that is tough. How news.de reported, the warning applies from this evening at 9:00 p.m. until tomorrow morning at 9:00 a.m. The German Weather Service (DWD) issued the warning at 7:36 p.m. and expects fog above 800 meters with visibility of less than 150 meters. This can lead to sudden obstructions to visibility, which is why drivers are well advised to adapt their driving behavior accordingly.

The weather is quite unpleasant, caused by a low over eastern France that is affecting large parts of Germany. In the northeast, however, a high over southern Scandinavia is bringing dry air, as the DWD found this evening at 7:25 p.m. Stiff wind gusts of around 55 km/h are expected on some parts of the coast, and stormy gusts of up to 65 km/h can even occur on the Schleswig-Holstein Baltic Sea coast. But the weather is also unpleasant for the south: individual thunderstorms with local heavy rain are to be expected in the evening and at night.

Fog and thunderstorms: an uncomfortable evening

It's not just the fog that creates challenges, the storm front is also active. The DWD warns of thunderstorms in the south and southwest that can bring between 15 and 25 l/m² of rain - in some cases even higher amounts are possible. There is also a slight chance of small-grain hail and gusts of up to 75 km/h. So the mood for the coming hours is rather mixed.

At night the wind will decrease on the coasts; Nevertheless, showers and thunderstorms can be expected in the south. Fog will continue to form and temperatures will drop to 11 to 6 degrees, at sea it will be 12 to 8 degrees. The DWD also states that there will be a lot of sunshine tomorrow in the region northeast of the Elbe. However, in the south and up to the middle of Germany it will remain very cloudy, with rain and thunderstorms in the Alps.

Outlook for the coming days

What awaits us after this rainy evening? Maximum temperatures of 15 to 19 degrees are indicated for Saturday, while the south is only expected to reach between 12 and 15 degrees. The outlook shows a partly cloudy, partly clear Sunday, with temperatures ranging from 14 to 21 degrees. It will mostly be light winds, although the easterly wind on the Baltic Sea could blow a little stronger.
