Chub: Unknown people set fire to old clothing container – police are investigating!

What is happening in the Central Saxony region? The past few days were once again marked by various police operations, including both fire brigade operations and criminal investigations. On June 13, 2025, a burning garbage can on Zwingerstrasse in Döbeln caused a stir, but an attentive neighbor was able to prevent anything worse from happening. The material damage caused by the fire is estimated at around 200 euros. The investigation is based on damage to property. Sächsische.de reports.

A surprising drug discovery occurred in Hartha when a 42-year-old cyclist was found with around 15 grams of suspected crystal, three cartridges and burglary tools while being checked by the police. Investigations are now underway against him for violations of the Weapons and Narcotics Act. Unfortunately, such incidents are not uncommon in the region, as current statistics on road traffic and crime show. Statistics Saxony provides information about the general increase in the number of accidents caused by drugs and alcohol.

Traffic accidents in focus

Road safety has also been a hot topic these days. An accident occurred in Jahnatal on Thursday afternoon in which a 37-year-old Skoda driver collided with a Mitsubishi that had the right of way while turning. Fortunately, there were no injuries, but the material damage of around 20,000 euros should not be underestimated. A similar situation took place on Friday morning in Altmittweida, where a head-on collision between a Ford and a Mitsubishi resulted in a slightly injured driver - here the total damage is around 16,000 euros.

But that wasn't all: In another incident in Hartha, a 70-year-old VW driver was involved in a pedestrian accident. An 83-year-old pedestrian was injured - the damage to property amounted to around 200 euros. These and many other traffic accidents regularly call the police to the scene, who tirelessly ensure greater safety on the roads.

Crime and burglaries

Burglaries are another pressing problem in the region. Last week, between June 6th and 7th, a bakery branch in Kappel was the target of burglars who broke a window and searched the premises - but they came away empty-handed. The damage cannot yet be quantified. The police have launched an investigation to bring those responsible to justice.

And the empty recycling center in Groß Schirma was not spared either; Here, unknown perpetrators stole non-ferrous metal worth around 5,000 euros. In addition, several cars were broken into in Döbeln - the total damage here amounts to around 940 euros. The security situation remains tense and it is foreseeable that the police will have to increase their efforts to combat crime. The region needs a safe environment for all citizens.

In summary, the police have had a lot to do in the last few days to ensure both traffic control and the fight against crime. The Saxon police remains committed to strengthening the sense of security in our community and gaining civic trust.
