Investigations against child pornography: Police comb through Chemnitz!

The police in Chemnitz searched several apartments today to take action against the abuse of children and the distribution of child pornography. These measures are part of a larger investigation that affects not only Chemnitz itself, but also the surrounding Erzgebirge and Central Saxony districts. The operations took place across several locations, including Brand-Erbisdorf, Freiberg, Rochlitz, Schwarzenberg and Zwönitz. All 76 suspects, aged between 17 and 61, were accused of being involved in criminal activity, but no arrests were made during the operations. Nevertheless, the evidence collected during the week of action remained a challenge for the investigators, as the evaluation of the seized data carriers is still ongoing.

Police crime statistics in recent years show an alarming trend: cases of child pornography have increased significantly.
