Highland of the Highland Games in Leisnig: strong and hot competitive!

Altendorf, Deutschland - On June 28, 2025, the Altendorf district in Leisnig transformed into a Scottish festival for young and old. The event "Kilt’n’strong", a fabulous variant of the popular Highland Games, attracts participants from Germany, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands and the USA and offers exciting competitions in the middle of magnificent backdrops. The SV Altenhof under the direction of club chairman Jens Riedel organizes the spectacle, which has now established itself over five years and is a highlight in the event calendar every year. Exactly at 30 degrees in the shade, the brave participants showed great performances in various disciplines, including the Conan Wheel with a weight of 200 kg, the weight elevation with 25.4 kg, stone push and the tree trunk throw, also known as Caber Toss. The sporting challenges guaranteed a spectacle of a special kind. Among the 19 participants who stood the hot temperatures, Johan Langhorst from the Netherlands in the men and Sina Ruppenthal from Dortmund from Dortmund protruded: Langhorst won first place, while Ruppenthal celebrated their competition premiere with a victory. The audience was particularly impressed by Moritz Mader from Dortmund when he caught an incredible 400 kg at the Axle Bar.

The "Little Scotland" purpose for children proved to be a real crowd puller. Here the little ones were able to measure their strength in a climbing and Tobe area and let off steam in the game. The event was well attended with viewers between 500 and 700 and the community sense was noticeable, while the event was made possible by sponsorship and the active support of the club members.

But that was only the prelude for exciting weeks in the field of Highland Games. On 1. to 3 August 2025, another event will take place in Ohrdruf, Thuringia for the first time, at which Kilt’n’strong is responsible for the sporting management. These games offer both highland competitions and exciting Strongman disciplines. Kilt and Strong informs that the participants can not only measure their strength in tree trunk throwing, but also in a new challenge that Caber-Challenge can measure.

For Highland fans, another highlight is on the program in September 2025 when the international Highland Games will be held in Trebsen from September 19th to 21st. Here the audience can look forward to exciting competitions in different classes. Traditional competitions such as the weight throw, which also inspired for the first time at Guteneck Castle this year, nothing stands in the way. Oberpfalzecho emphasizes that the event not only comes up with breathtaking disciplines, but also offers a varied supporting program with culinary delights and children's offers.
