Young nurses take over management in the Freiburg hospital!

Freiberg, Deutschland - Responsibility of young people is often a hot topic - what happens if the trainees independently lead a station? An exciting project shows that it can work: In the Freiberg district hospital, trainees of the second and third year of apprenticeship take over the management of the vascular surgical station 9. The "Students lead a station" program is an integral part of the end of the training year and enables the 25 trainees to put their theoretical knowledge into practice. The patron of the project, press spokeswoman Claudia Steinbach, emphasizes how important this experience is for the development of young specialists. "The independent work not only gives the trainees security, but also self -confidence," says Steinbach.

Nadine Ginzel, a committed trainee in the third year of apprenticeship and deputy of the management, consciously chose training as a nurse to help people in a difficult life situation. "The patients are my greatest motivation," she enthuses while talking about her experiences. Various clinical pictures such as circulatory disorders and diabetic feet are treated on ward 9, which enables the trainee to apply their knowledge directly.

career start in Cologne

A similar concept is also followed at the clinics of the city of Cologne gGmbH. Here students took over the management of various stations, including urology and neurology. 43 senior course students participated in this project for four to five weeks and not only experienced the everyday life of a station, but also further developed their social-communicative skills. As part of the generalistic training as a nurse, such operations become an integral part of the curriculum.

The trainees there even had the opportunity to write their duties themselves and to organize hospital days in different functional areas. The project management ensured that both the trainees and the teams were well informed at the wards. Feedback rounds supported continuous reflection on successes and challenges.

a new perspective in care

In Germany, every trainee begins with the aim of becoming a nurse or nursing specialist. Here you can specialize in different areas, be it long -term care or child nursing. How the new training is structured is shown by the fact that trainees can choose before the end of their career, whether they want to continue their way in generalistic training or strive for a more specific degree.

The practical experiences that are gained in Freiberg and Cologne impressively show that young people are willing to take responsibility. Nadine, who wants to stay in Freiberg after her training, emphasizes the valuable exchange with experienced nurses and the support of her team. "The family atmosphere and the internal training opportunities here are great," she adds. Such projects could not only serve young talent, but also strengthen the self -confidence of young nurses and contribute to high -quality patient care.

The question remains: How will these experiments shape our health landscape in the coming years? One thing is certain: the trainees are on the best way to become responsible healthcare providers and show that the future of care is in good hands.
