Truck accident near Hainichen: A4 completely closed until noon!

A serious truck accident on Autobahn 4 near Hainichen caused significant traffic disruptions early on Saturday morning. A tractor-trailer overturned around 12:45 a.m. and brought the highway in the direction of Erfurt to a standstill. Fortunately, the driver of the truck, a 55-year-old man, was uninjured. The damage is estimated at several tens of thousands of euros after the vehicle crashed into a guardrail and then skidded and overturned.

The accident occurred shortly after the Hainichen junction. The truck was mainly transporting cardboard boxes with tape and tape, but the load remained largely undamaged. However, the accident caused fuels such as diesel and engine oil to leak, further complicating the situation. The fire department, highway maintenance department, oil removal company and environmental authority were on site to take care of the recovery of the vehicle and the subsequent cleaning of the road.

The motorway will be completely closed until midday

Because of this incident, the highway was closed for hours until 11 a.m. Drivers traveling in central Saxony had to expect severe traffic delays. The police have initiated the closure to ensure the safety of the rescue work and to clear the street of the spilled substances.

Accidents involving trucks are not a rare phenomenon. According to a recently published study by the Federal Statistical Office, which includes data from 1992 to 2024, traffic accidents involving freight vehicles are a significant challenge for traffic safety in Germany. The publication took place on July 9, 2025, so the current events in Hainichen are only a small part of a larger issue that concerns the traffic authorities Statista.

It remains to be hoped for residents and travelers in the region that such incidents will become less frequent in the future and that traffic flow can run more smoothly again. Until then, be patient and pay attention to the detours!

Further information about the accident and the following measures can be found at Stern and Auto Motor und Sport.
