New driving license collection points in Central Saxony: Freiberg and Mittweida!
On November 7th, 2025 there will be good news for everyone who wants to pick up their driving license in Central Saxony. For the first time, the documents can now also be picked up in the cities of Freiberg and Mittweida, in addition to the existing option in Döbeln. This innovation brings more flexibility and citizen-friendliness, which was expressly appreciated by District Administrator Sven Krüger. The district administrator emphasized that this measure is intended to reduce travel distances for applicants. Pick-up times are Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., which offers enough time to easily integrate the visit into your everyday life.
Anyone applying for a driving license now has the choice of where they want to pick up their document. When submitting the application, the options Döbeln, House A in Mittweida or the Werner Hofmann House in Freiberg can be selected. Each applicant will receive a letter once the driver's license is completed. This letter also contains the necessary documents required for collection. It is important that the driving license must be picked up within three months of receiving the letter.
Planned online expansions
The district office plans to further expand the service for applying for a driver's license exchange this year. This expanded online function is intended to make it easier for citizens to deal with their concerns digitally and thus save time and nerves.
