Samhain ceremony in Kriebstein: sweating and drumming in the magic garden!

It's boiling in the magic garden in Kriebstein! The big one will take place on Friday, October 31st at 3 p.m Samhain ceremony instead of. This event is aimed at nature-loving, curious and open-minded people who want to consciously experience the transition from the light to the dark season. Organized by Jürgen Schütz and Mirko Luckau, the ceremony is characterized by drumming on the mother drum and the traditional ancestral sweat hut.

Samhain, an important Celtic holiday, symbolizes beginnings, ends and new beginnings. Jürgen Schütz, a general practitioner with a passion for natural medicine, has made it his mission to conduct ceremonies with sweat lodges and drums for over 15 years. These used to take place in Altnaundorf, but the events have now been moved to the idyllic courtyard, where a one-hectare area right next to the forest with a view of the dam awaits participants.

Fire, drums and community

The evening begins with drum chief Mirko Luckau, who introduces the participants to the ritual circle. During the event, those present sing and drum power songs from Indian culture, Indian mantras and German circle dance songs. The sweat lodge itself offers a protected space for meditation and connection to the ancestors. The goal here is to find access to yourself, work on your own issues and let go of stress and fears.

A solemn firekeeper makes the stones glow, and the room is smoked and cleansed with sage. After the ceremony there is a social gathering - the participants bring something to eat and drink to strengthen the community.

A whole weekend full of rituals

If you want to extend the experience, there is another highlight: the Samhain sweat lodge begins on November 1st at 2 p.m. and runs until November 2nd at 1 p.m. This event focuses on contact with the otherworld and introspection as nature goes into hibernation. Anir Leben, who has been associated with sweat lodges for over 25 years, leads this ceremony. The focus here is on cleaning, supporting, saying goodbye to the past and inviting the new.

The process includes the shared ritual, lighting the fire and blessing the stones. The next morning the day ends with a Cherokee Dance. At this event, participants also bring their food to share after the hut and for breakfast. The costs are 80 euros for the sweat lodge and 20-35 euros for the use of the Ganesha courtyard, although the latter varies in price depending on your own assessment.
