Technitz needs space: elementary school applies for million-dollar extension!

Big changes are coming to the idyllic elementary school in Technitz. It is already clear that the educational institution needs more space to meet the requirements. The school association has therefore applied for funding from the Free State for a planned extension, but has not yet received any approval, reported Sächsische.de. A total amount of over two million euros is required for cultivation. But giving up is not in the club's everyday language - the work can still be started because they have already been successful elsewhere.

This year, 22 girls and boys were enrolled at the Protestant primary school, instead of the usual 24. The reason for this is that there were several deferrals, which meant that more children could not be admitted. A total of 96 children from four years are currently attending the school, and attendance at after-school care is compulsory for all children. This concept, in which older students help younger ones, not only promotes learning but also children's social skills. Really a clever approach!

Funding opportunities for schools

Financing school projects in Germany can be complicated. But there are numerous funding options available to schools, such as foerdermittel-wissenswert.de explained. Among other things, it's about the RÜTGERS Foundation, which supports MINT projects in schools. The projects must be accompanied by teachers, which ensures implementation.

Another example is the Hans Thomann Foundation, which takes care of musical projects and thus children's enthusiasm for music. Musical education can not only be integrated into everyday school life, but can also be promoted outside of it to give socially disadvantaged children a chance.

Financing system in the school sector

But what does financing actually look like in the German education system? Loud Eurydice School funding is divided between states and municipalities. The municipalities are responsible for material costs and non-teaching staff, while the states are responsible for the teachers. This ensures a stable system, with a total of 93.7 billion euros earmarked for schools in 2024.

The goal of public schools is to provide free education. Costs for enrollment or student ID cards should not cause families to spend any additional money on their own. Support is also available for families who are financially burdened, be it through educational packages or special transport arrangements for students.

Overall, it can be seen that the primary school in Technitz is not only thinking about the necessary space, but is also actively working to expand the educational offerings. The challenges are great, but the community will address them and invest in the future.
