The cold season is just around the corner and the road maintenance departments in the Central Saxony district have already completed all preparations for the winter service season. Over 8,000 tons of road salt and more than 60 vehicles are available to keep the roads safe, reports Saxon. A colorful mix of our own vehicles and support from regional companies is intended to ensure that drivers get through the winter well.
District Administrator Sven Krüger has already made an important appeal to drivers: It is time to put on your winter tires and drive carefully. The roads could soon be slippery, and a good driving hand is now required!
Optimal preparation in all regions
A total of 28 vehicles are ready at six locations – in Brand-Erbisdorf, Mühlau, Freiberg, Hainichen, Rochlitz and Döbeln. There are also almost 40 additional vehicles, including eight tractors, from regional companies that have been contracted for winter service. Claudia Landgraf, head of the roads department, emphasizes how important this collaboration is to ensure safety on the roads.
The technology was already serviced in the summer so that it is now in the best condition for the upcoming operations. This means that the road maintenance departments are well prepared to overcome the challenges of winter.
