Looking for a home! Perli and Dragon – The sibling cats need you!

A particularly urgent appeal is being launched in the Leisnig animal shelter, Central Saxony. There are numerous animals here looking for a warm, loving home. Among them are two very special siblings: Perli and Dragen, both nine and a half years old, are European Shorthair cats who were given away by their previous owner for health reasons. The duo have a close bond with each other and are only mediated together because for them the well-being of each other is of the utmost importance. They have already been vaccinated, dewormed and neutered and have so far been kept purely as indoor cats. However, a bit of freedom in the form of a small garden or excursions would be good for both of them, as Tag24 reports.

Not far from Perli and Dragen, the two-year-old female cat Fine is also looking for a new home. She came to the animal shelter in early September and has an unknown history. But that is quickly forgotten because she is tame, affectionate and loves to cuddle. However, their preference for a solitary life makes them a cat that prefers a home without other cats.

Dogs and mixed breeds in the animal shelter

The list of animal companions is supplemented by mixed breed Dilly, who has been living in the animal shelter since December 2023. The four-year-old male comes from a friendly animal welfare association and needs some time to thaw out. Dilly is shy at first, but with patience he shows his playful nature. His great passions are walks in the quiet nature and little sniffing games. However, Dilly is afraid of children and should therefore not be placed in a household that wants children.

For anyone who is interested in offering the animals in Leisnig a new home, the MDR program “Tierisch tierisch” offers further information. Presenter Uta Bresan regularly introduces the animals, and the latest episode runs on Wednesday at 7:50 p.m. on MDR or can be found in the MDR media library. If you are interested, you can contact the animal shelter directly on 034321-13912.

Pets in Germany

The search for a new home for animals is not only popular in Leisnig. In fact, almost every second household in Germany has pets, as Statista reports. Around 15.7 million cats roam around in German parlors, followed by dogs, which are also very popular. These furry friends are often considered full family members and help distract from the worries of everyday life.

The decision to have a pet is always worth careful consideration. Keeping pets involves effort and costs. Interestingly, 35% of pet owners still adopt animals from shelters, while many also buy from breeders. Despite the reduced demand for pets since the Corona boom, there is still a loving market for loyal four-legged friends and their animal friends.

Here in Cologne and the surrounding area there is a lot of space for love and new life. If you are looking for a new furry companion, or maybe even two, a visit to the Leisnig animal shelter could be just the thing!
