35 years of Lebenshilfe Oschatz: celebration of diversity in the park!

An important milestone for Lebenshilfe in Oschatz: Next Saturday, August 30, 2025, the “Festival of Diversity” will be celebrated in O-Schatz Park. This event is part of the celebrations for the 35th anniversary of the association, which has been a central contact and employer for people with disabilities since its founding. How lvz.de reports, the gates will open between 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. and the entire community is invited to celebrate.

Diversity, participation and community are the focus of the event. The day promises a colorful program that includes encounters, music and movement. The drum group and the band “Die Oschis” from Lebenshilfe Oschatz will perform on stage, complemented by the children's choir from the Thomas-Mann-Gymnasium and impressive dance performances from the facilities. There will also be a panel discussion at 2 p.m. that will address the importance of diversity in our society.

A celebration for the community

For visitors young and old, there are book readings and a specialist lecture in the “Green Classroom”, while numerous hands-on activities and creative stations invite visitors to actively participate. How Lebenshilfe-oschatz.de reports, the event will also provide an opportunity for exchange and information stands from various Lebenshilfe institutions and external organizations will show how diverse the offerings are in the region.

The Oschatz life support: A strong foundation

Lebenshilfe Oschatz has continued to develop since it was founded in 1990. With currently 184 members and around 1,000 employees with disabilities, supported by over 300 employees, the organization is a significant employer in the region. Between 1990 and 2024, 26 houses were built specifically for people with disabilities, including an integrative daycare center, a residential home for children and young people, and an early intervention and counseling center.

Inclusion is very important here. The term means that all people belong equally from the start and can participate in social life, regardless of their background or abilities. The UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities demands this equal participation - a concern that Lebenshilfe Oschatz implements in its daily activities.
