B182 in Torgau remains closed: Extreme heat delayed release!
in Torgau, in the district of North Saxony, the construction work on the B182 has been in full swing since April 2025. After months of planning and work, the responsible authorities were short of the traffic, but extreme temperatures thwarted the plans. The new road should actually be completed at the end of June, but the release was delayed due to insufficiently cooled and resilient asphalt, such as Tag24 reported. The section on the Dr. Külz bank remains closed, while the intersection, which has been passable again since Monday, is supposed to relax a little.
The complete release is now targeted for Saturday, July 5, 2025. The aim of the extensive construction work is to ensure the long -term quality and safety of the road. Not only the road was renewed in several places, but also a new cycling strip in Warschauer Straße was integrated and a new walking and cycle path on the Dr. Külz bank. These measures are part of the total traffic planning, which will continue until mid-August, as is highlighted by lasuv.sachsen.de
traffic impairments and diversions
The road users, residents and traders in the area are asked for understanding for the existing restrictions. The temporary closures affect the bus traffic and the accessibility of shops. Apparently it is a crystallization point for accidents and delays - also given the diversions.
In a much larger context, Torgau is not alone with his problems. A new study by
ecological aspect
Particular attention is paid to the ecological balance of such construction projects. The study finds that the benefit-cost analysis (NKA) of the road construction projects greatly underestimates the influence of new roads on traffic and CO₂ emissions. Critics therefore call for a fundamental revision of traffic planning in Germany. Benedikt Heyl, data analyst at T&E Germany, sums it up: "The carbon costs are set far too low, and this leads to uneconomical decisions."
Although the road builders in Torgau are facing current heat and other challenges, the claim that roads create more problems than solutions not to ignore future mobility in Germany.
