Bundeswehr reactivates ammunition depot in Mockrehna: consequences for the region!
A significant change is coming in Mockrehna. As the LVZ reports, the former ammunition depot in Strelln will now be placed back under the care of the Bundeswehr. This means the final end to the originally intended civil use, which was envisaged in 2017. The reason for the return to military use is increasing international challenges and the strategic location of the camp near the Leipzig/Halle aviation hub.
The 1.14 million square meter area will therefore become part of the Bundeswehr's “strategic property reserve”. As the Saxon explained, this will also have consequences for the planned expansion of the B87n federal road between Eilenburg and Mockrehna. Previous plans to sell the property are now a thing of the past, and the future of the road construction projects remains uncertain.
Nursing service in trouble
As the military landscape regroups, local service providers are battling the storm. Rebecca Dieke-Fuhrmann, who has been running a nursing service for 18 years, is facing ever greater challenges. The increase in the number of patients combined with a shortage of staff makes the situation in rural areas seem dramatic. A vicious circle with little hope for improvement, how LVZ holds on.
The burden of the high workload weighs heavily on the shoulders of the nursing staff, while the average age of the patients is constantly increasing. The lack of trained personnel is becoming the most pressing problem in the region and poses massive challenges for the industry.
Pumpkin for good causes
While there is a need for care, there is also encouraging news from the region: Niels Bunge presented a true colossus of pumpkin at the GPC Resin Championship, which weighed an impressive 410 kg. His talent and passion for pumpkins is blossoming and he is already planning many more exciting projects for next year LVZ.
Such events not only bring joy but often help to the less fortunate in society. A homeless man has set up shop in a bus stop in Oschatz, sparking discussions about safety and the cityscape. The increase in the number of people affected by poverty is also visible in this region. The city as well as the food bank and residents offer support, which can be seen as an important sign of cohesion.
In Delitzsch, the Ursa company remains at its location despite difficult market conditions, thereby contributing to the creation of jobs and the training of young people. In the long term, a gradual recovery of the market is expected, which strengthens hopes for positive developments in the region.
