Corona alarm in Northern Saxony: Current incidence and case numbers at a glance!
The corona pandemic still has Germany firmly under control, and this is also reflected in the current figures. However, as of November 10, 2025, the latest data for the district of Northern Saxony, which we are taking a closer look at here, is not available. Due to technical delays at the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), the numbers have so far been suspended. However, the latest surveys from November 9, 2025 show that there were a total of 51 new infections in the district in the past seven days. These lead to a 7-day incidence of 25.5 per 100,000 inhabitants, which is worrying in the current situation. News.de reports that ...
In contrast, the benign figures for all of Germany provided by the RKI on November 9, 2025: No new new infections were reported, which may be due to low testing activity. The nationwide 7-day incidence is a moderate 5.9 per 100,000 inhabitants. In total, over 39 million people in Germany have tested positive for the coronavirus since the beginning of the pandemic, which corresponds to an infection rate of 47.04%. The total number of deaths from COVID-19 in Germany is 188,251, with a case fatality rate of 0.48%. Corona-in-zahlen.de summarizes that...
Age distribution of infections and deaths
What particularly strikes us when we look at the data is the age distribution of infections. The 35 to 59 age group has the most confirmed infections in Saxony, with over 806,000 cases. The overall figures also show that people over 60, the age at which more common complications can occur, are severely affected: there were 314,336 infections among those aged 60 to 79 and 124,406 among those over 80. WHO describes that…
A shocking aspect is the number of deaths, which can also be broken down by age group. Mortality is particularly high among people aged 80 and older, with 122,169 deaths. In contrast, the numbers are significantly lower among younger people, but this should not obscure the fact that COVID-19 can also have serious health consequences for these age groups.
Vaccination rate and consequences
The vaccination campaign is showing success, but here too there is still room for improvement. The current status of the vaccination rate indicates that 76.3% of the population has basic immunization, while 78.1% has been vaccinated at least once. Booster vaccinations are also becoming more and more important: 62.8% have already had themselves vaccinated again. In view of these numbers, it is clear that despite all the progress, the pandemic has not yet been defeated.
We must be aware that COVID-19 is not just a viral disease that targets the vulnerable group. The virus can also cause serious symptoms in younger and healthy people. Therefore, it is critical that anyone who notices symptoms act quickly and take appropriate action.
We will continue to stay tuned and inform you about all developments in order to protect the population well and consider the next steps.
