Timetable changes in Delitzsch: fewer buses for students from August!

From the start of the summer holidays there will be noticeable changes to the timetable for school transport at Nordsachsen Mobil GmbH (Nomo). These changes particularly affect travel times and stop operations in the Delitzsch and Eilenburg region. Nomo spokesman Matthias Neumann emphasizes that so far more trips have been offered than the student transport regulations require. These additional trips have previously been financed through voluntary contributions from the district.

However, in view of the district's strained budget situation, it was decided to return to the statutory scope of transport services. There will be fewer trips from the new school year, which begins on August 11th. In particular, some return journeys will no longer be made after the fourth lesson, which represents a significant change for affected students.

Affected schools and timetables

The schools affected by these changes include the Krostitz primary and secondary school, the Rosenweg primary school, the Erasmus Schmidt secondary school and other schools in the towns of Beilrode, Cavertitz, Dahlen, Delitzsch-Ost, Eilenburg, Glesien, Kyhna, Löbnitz, Schildau, Strehla, Wehlitz, Weßnig, Wölkau and Zschepplin. While trips continue after the fifth and sixth lessons, students at Authausen Primary School have to forego their return journey after the fifth lesson.

In December 2024, bus services were already significantly reduced due to a deficit of around two million euros. These measures affected numerous lines in Eilenburg and Delitzsch including lines 195, 197, 229, 231, 233 and others.

New Flexa on-call bus system

The new Flexa on-call bus system, which has been expanded to the entire district, offers hope for more flexibility. This new initiative creates 45 new stopping points, but they are not marked with signs. For example, in Eilenburg you can find stops in places like Kospa and Naundorfer Straße 9 (corner of Wiesenweg). Flexa picks up passengers at these agreed stops at no additional charge to the MDV tariff or as part of the Deutschlandticket.

Bookings for Flexa can be made by telephone or online up to 60 minutes before departure. An interesting innovation: Flexa not only takes passengers to the desired destination stop, but also to transfer points if there is no scheduled bus or train available at the desired times.

Student cards for young passengers

Another important topic is student cards. The Student RegionalCard enables younger students in the North Saxony district to use public transport on the way to school every day, even on weekends and during the summer holidays. In order to receive this card, an application should be submitted to the district, taking into account the school transport regulations.

For students in grade 5 and above, there is also an education ticket, which can also be applied for directly from the district. These offers are a great way to make mobility and leisure activities easier for students, giving them plenty of scope for their activities outside of school.
