District council in northern Saxony: bitter protests against wind power expansion!
A lot has happened in the North Saxony district in the last few days. What is particularly exciting is the development surrounding wind power, which caused considerable discussion at the last district council meeting in Torgau. LVZ reports that the district council remains unshakable against wind power opponents. District Administrator Kai Emanuel emphasizes that these are not the right contacts to take action against the expansion of wind turbines. Citizens voiced their criticism loudly during the meeting, but the district council's stance remains unchanged.
In order to take the concerns of the population into account, citizen participation measures were launched. In Mockrehna, a citizens' advisory board has already started its work to look for alternatives and to take citizens' voices seriously. This initiative could be a key to making wind power projects more transparent and involving citizens in decision-making. WDR refers that such formats often strengthen trust in political decision-makers.
Current political incidents
Another unpleasant event occurred when the Glesien fire department had to extinguish its own fire department. The fire is being investigated by the police, fortunately there were no injuries, but large parts of the technology were severely damaged, which temporarily affected the fire department's operational readiness.
