Oschatz, Deutschland - The classic car friends from the area recently celebrated a special event: the sixth F9 meeting in Oschatz. The focus of the meeting was the popular IFA F9 Cabriolet from 1955, which belongs to Siggi and Biggi Peto from the Lower Silesian Upper Lusatia. This special vehicle was acquired in individual parts and the assembly took five years. A sign of devotion and passion for classic cars, the tradition lived here is highly valued in the scene. lvz.de reported that the meeting attracted participants from various regions Published them in stylish clothing from the 1950s.

The exit led the participants back to Oschatz through picturesque landscapes via Leisnig, Podelwitz and Lampertswalde. 25 vehicles took part in the tour, including about ten convertibles, which once more demonstrates the attraction of the legendary F9 model. Henri Seeländer from Dresden, who took part in this day, brought an artistic picture of his granddaughter, which reinforced the family atmosphere of the meeting.

program and award

The organizer of the meeting, Peter Sperling from Merkwitz, was awarded a F9 sign during a festive dinner. The enthusiastic classic car owner himself has an F9, which he lovingly calls "Hubert" and which dates from 1953. His collection also includes a DKW that will celebrate his hundred years of anniversary in 2028. An interesting detailed information about the F9 is that it is the last car model built in the GDR with suicide doors. Production began at the VEB Motor Vehicle Works of Audi in Zwickau between 1950 and 1953, before it continued until 1956 at the VEB Automobilwerk Eisenach under the name EMW 309. The F9, as the successor to the DKW F8, was very modern for its time, came with a three-cylinder two-stroke engine and had a peak output of up to 30 hp. autoClassic.de illustrates that the F9 was designed for a motorway suitability of over 80 km/h and is still very popular in class.
