Traffic chaos in Taucha: closures until July for new construction projects!

Significant construction work is taking place in the city of Taucha from Monday, June 30th, which will have a significant impact on traffic. The intersection of Dewitzer Straße, Zwilling-Scholl-Straße and Am Dingstuhl will be closed until July 19th. The reason for this restriction is extensive repair work, during which a new asphalt surface is applied. According to [lvz.de](https://www.lvz.de/lokales/nordsachsen/ Taucha/ Taucha-neue-baustelle-in-innenstadt-sorge-bei-verkehr-fuer-doppelschläge-I533QCVF6ZF6NG2XWTRLWQKWEY.html) the costs for the renovation of Dewitzer Straße amount to around 40,000 euros.

This closure is expected to require a diversion in both directions. This leads via Eilenburger Straße, Schloßstraße, Leipziger Straße and Marktstraße as well as via “An der Gartenstadt” street. Given the dense traffic situation in the city center, there will probably be a double burden on the transport network.

Additional construction sites in Taucha

Parallel to the work on Dewitzer Strasse, construction work is also taking place on Leipziger Strasse in the bridge area over the Parthe floodplain. The bridge will be completely closed here from July 21st as the current only half-way passability will no longer be sufficient. These renovation measures will take place on time and could possibly require a second full closure, which could be scheduled for a later date, such as during the autumn holidays. This is where “there’s something going on” in the truest sense of the word.

In addition, there are several other full closures in the city, such as Seegeritzer Straße and the Seegeritz/Merkwitz connecting road, both of which will be closed from June 30th to August 10th due to construction work by the Leipzig waterworks and road renovation. A drinking water pipe is also being replaced at Schillerstrasse 81, which will also cause disruption.

What does this mean for the residents?

The situation could be disadvantageous for residents and local businesses, as the hustle and bustle becomes a test of patience. Road maintenance plays an important role in eliminating damage to the road surface, which in turn increases road safety. But the associated traffic space restrictions also bring challenges. A detailed overview of further traffic area restrictions can be found on the city of Taucha's website at [ Taucha.de](https://www. Taucha.de/service/buergerservice/verkehrseinschraenkungen/aktuelle-baustellen-und-sperrungen-im-stadtgebiet/).

The repair measures include various technologies. For example, a thin asphalt surface layer is used in cold construction, which can be used again immediately after application. This ensures that the moves do not take too long for traffic. However, sometimes more complex procedures are necessary to ensure the safety and durability of the roads in the long term, which in the best case scenario means that everyone involved has a “good hand” when dealing with these construction sites.

Although the construction sites could cause short-term trouble, they are helping to ensure that Taucha's roads are ready for the future. A timely completion of the work would be in the interests of everyone – road users, residents and businesses. Stay patient and informed!
