Wacker Dahlen is fighting for renovation: Help is urgently needed for 230 athletes!

The FSV Wacker Dahlen clubhouse is facing a major test because it is in urgent need of renovation. Cracks in the masonry, old installations and outdated facilities have alarmed those responsible for the club's management. The association, which has an impressive 235 members and is therefore one of the largest in the region, is now hoping for financial support from the federal government. As the LVZ reports, the association's management plans to prepare a cost estimate for the necessary renovation before submitting its application for funding.

Markus Kollrich, the club's chairman, emphasizes the importance of the funding for improving the conditions for the athletes. “Changing rooms and sanitary rooms are essential,” he notes, pointing out the urgency of the upcoming renovation measures. Christiane Schenderlein, the Minister of State for Sport and Volunteering, has already given valuable tips on applying and co-financing.

Funding program for sports facilities

The hope for financial help is no coincidence, because the federal government has launched a new program: “Renovation of municipal sports facilities”. According to that Federal Ministry of Housing, Urban Development and Construction 333 million euros are available for this in the current phase. These funds are intended to help cities and communities renovate and modernize their sports facilities. Up to a billion euros are planned over the next few years to transform old sports facilities into sustainable, barrier-free places.

The first round of funding has already begun and project outlines can be submitted until January 15, 2026. The focus of the program is on the energy-efficient renovation of public sports halls and outdoor swimming pools, but also on the sustainable conversion and renovation of outdoor sports facilities, such as artificial turf pitches.

A strong foundation for the future

For FSV Wacker Dahlen, around two thirds of whose membership consists of children and young people, a renovation of the clubhouse would not only improve the sporting conditions. It would also be a clear sign of commitment to the young generation and the future of the Dahlen community. The clubhouse is an important meeting place for the athletes and has the potential to further strengthen the community.

With a contribution that the club would like to raise through sponsors and supporters, the hope of being able to overcome the upcoming challenges is nurtured. The board and the committed members are optimistic about the future and hope that their application will be positively considered. The urgency of the renovation measures is obvious and preparations for this are already in full swing.
