suspected cases and consequences

The findings include possible violations of the minimum wage, priority of social security contributions and cases of unauthorized foreign work. As a result, the customs initiated twelve investigations due to violations of foreign law. The data of the construction site controls are compared with the business documents of employers, which supports the work of customs and German pension insurance.

The topic of undeclared work is a considerable problem in Germany. According to BMAS was initially set to 8.50 euros and then increased to 9.35 per hour. During these developments, resilient information on the effect of the minimum wage on undeclared work remained rare. The previous studies show that more the industry -specific properties and motifs play a role in undeclared work than the minimum wage itself.

For example,

reported empirical studies that the hospitality, the meat industry as well as the courier, express and parcel services are particularly affected by undeclared work. These facts underline the need to take further measures to combat undeclared work in order to ensure social security for employees in Germany.

In view of the current events, it remains to be seen in view of the current events which further steps the authorities will take to put up with the problem of undeclared work and at the same time to promote compliance with employment standards.
