Construction work on the B172 in Pirna: diversion planned from July 14th!

An important change is on the horizon in Pirna: Construction work on the Pirna bypass (B 172) on the Sonnenstein is entering the next phase. From July 14th, an adjustment to traffic routing will be necessary as traffic will be redirected from the existing roadway to a newly constructed, two-lane temporary roadway. This temporary roadway runs northeast of the current route and ensures that traffic can pass the construction site in both directions. According to the Wochenkurier the work to create the final state of the future connection to the B 172 is now in full swing.

But that's not all! With the commissioning of the temporary roadway, work begins on the partial dismantling of the old route, the laying of new drainage pipes and extensive earthworks, which ultimately include the construction of the final roadway up to the existing B 172. This construction period is scheduled to last around a year, so road users should keep an eye on their timetable over the next few months.

Details of the construction site

There is also news about the B 172/Schandauer Straße in Pirna. Renewal work is expected to be carried out there from June 24th. During this period, the B 172 is completely closed for a stretch of around 600 meters, which makes a diversion via the S 173/Einsteinstrasse to the S 174/Rottwerndorfer Strasse necessary. From Neundorf the route is then diverted via the K 8732 to Krietzschwitz to the B 172. Return traffic will be rerouted in the same way, and regular public transport services will also have to be rerouted. Three traffic lights will also be set up on the diversion route to regulate the flow of traffic, which should make the situation a little easier for all road users. These details have been published on the Lasuv page.

Ensuring a reliable transport infrastructure is central to our personal freedom and social well-being. The transport network in Germany is one of the best in the world, as the Transportation Investment Report 2022 makes clear. The report highlights the importance of eliminating bottlenecks through regular new construction and expansion and shows that ensuring and expanding this high quality is a central task of transport policy in Germany.

Road users are asked to prepare for the upcoming diversions and construction work in good time. Drivers must therefore exercise patience during the construction period. It remains to be seen how the further details of the construction work will turn out, but one thing is certain: there is a lot to be done! Stay informed!
