Hřensko, Tschechien - The long waiting time has come to an end! From July 19, 2025, the Edmundsklamm in the Elbe Sandstone Mountains will be accessible to visitors again. After over three years of closure due to the devastating forest fires in the summer of 2022, one of the most impressive natural attractions in Bohemian Switzerland returns to the tourist map. One reason to joy, because the gorge attracts thousands of visitors every year who want to enjoy the picturesque landscape. What makes the Edmundsklamm so special? The approximately 900 meter long gorge is flowed through by the Kamenice River and presents a unique vegetation that is reminiscent of the flora of higher mountain regions. In order to ensure the security of the guests, access is initially limited to 50 people per day, and exploration is only carried out in the context of guided tours. A direct migration to the neighboring wild gorge is not possible because the boats have to reverse at the end of the journey. The effects of the forest fires

The closure of the gorge had become necessary after the largest forest fire in the history of Czech Republic destroyed over 1000 hectares of space in 2022. Charmed trees and falling boulders were a significant danger. The fire caused about 270 million crowns and lasted almost three weeks, which was heavily burdened by the Herrnskretsche community.
